The Benefits of Bamboo Flooring

If you’re looking for an elegant flooring option that is also green, bamboo might be the way to go.

Bamboo is highly renewable, much more so than hardwood trees like oaks, which can take at least 20 years to become mature. Bamboo is ready to be used in three to five years, making it the ecologically-friendly option.

Maintaining a bamboo floor is also simple. Just sweep it and mop it once in a while, or use hardwood and bamboo floor cleaners.

Though a floor made of a material that is technically a grass sounds like it wouldn’t be durable, bamboo isn’t that much more susceptible to damage than other hardwood floors. The lighter the bamboo is, the stronger it will be. The darker color is due to a heating process that darkens it, but also makes it softer. So, if you’re looking for a really durable bamboo floor, go with the lightest color.
